  • Science Week

    Fri 18 Mar 2016
We had an exciting start to the week with a fun and interactive Science assembly led by Laura Smith, a Science teacher at Sackville to help us launch British Science Week. The children were treated to a whole host of simple and fun experiments that included making Lava Lamps, using heat to split boiled eggs in half and making tea bags fly! The children got a real taste of secondary science to come and some got to put on goggles and use pipettes and test tubes! The children thoroughly enjoyed it and Laura received several unprompted bursts of applause from the children for her experiments! Thank you to her.
  • Netball Festival

    Fri 18 Mar 2016
“7 children from Year 4 and 8 children from Year 3 went to a netball festival and learnt how to play netball.  People from Sackville School taught us lots of skills for the proper match.  It was lots of fun.  We won both games!”

  • Georgraphy Themed Week

    Fri 11 Mar 2016
In school this week we have been learning about different parts of the world through Geography themed week.  In Class 6 we have been learning about North (and South!) America.  Specifically the Grand Canyon in Arizona and taught how it was formed by the Colorado River and how the river eroded different layers of rock.  Harrison and Isabella from Class 1 told us about the British Isles: “We have been learning mainly about Wales and Scotland.  In Scotland there is a tale about the Loch Ness Monster who swims in the lake and we enjoy what we are learning”.  Millie from Class 3 told us about the world: “We have been doing flags of the world.  We mainly did Russia and a little bit of Poland.  The tallest mountain is Mount Everest and we also looked at famous land marks”.  We hope everyone enjoyed Geography themed week and learnt a lot.

  • Hockey Tournament

    Fri 04 Mar 2016
“On Wednesday 6 children from Class 6 played in a hockey tournament at East Grinstead Sports Club.  We played 4 matches and drew one and unfortunately lost the rest.  The weather was terrible—it hailed, snowed and sleeted but all our team were determined to carry on.  Our fantastic team consisted of Lauren Keetley, Chloe Daley, Niamh Doyle, Joe Hounslow, Rohan Salazar-Gray and Harry Smart-Williams.  Our school is very proud of the team considering the weather.”

Thank you to Mrs Doyle for her help in transporting the children and to Miss Tomlin for accompanying them.

    Fri 04 Mar 2016
A fantastic well done to all our Mini Mile runners who completed their first race along Brighton seafront last Sunday morning.  The sun was bright, the weather was chilly - perfect conditions for running!

We are looking forward enormously to the next race at Preston Park in April.

  • World Book Day

    Fri 04 Mar 2016
Thank you to all the children (and parents!) that made such a super effort helping us celebrate World Book Day today. The children looked fabulous and all enjoyed taking part in reading activities across the school.

The overall winners for best dressed character (this was a very difficult decision) were Freya Bradstock (Year 4), Starsky Gualtieri (Year 3), Michael Georgiou (Year 2), Heidi Wickington (Year R). They each received a book token.
