  • Geckos love bugs!

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

Miss Warland brought several of her many-legged friends in to see us this morning. Geckos sat absolutely beautifully and asked some very thoughtful questions while she held ‘Daffodil,’ her pet tarantula. These included “why is she furry?” “Do they spin webs?” (sort of- they use their web more as a ‘carpet’ to cover themselves in a protective blanket!) “Why do they have 8 legs?” and lots more! Everyone then had the chance to examine the moult- a shedded skin- from another tarantula up close, and to meet Miss Warland’s beautiful Rainbow Stag Beetle (Kombucha!) and Flower Beetle.

  • Let’s Get Active

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

On Tuesday, 10 children from Macaws and Jaguars class attended the 'Lets Get Active' event at Kings Centre hosted by School Games on behalf of Mid Sussex Active.  The children took part in a range of exciting sport activities such as Gymnastics, Dance, Taekwondo, Athletics and cricket.   They all thoroughly enjoyed the taster sessions and whilst I witnessed some awesome 'ninja' moves during Taekwondo; they rated Gymnastics their favourite "because it had an obstacle course!"  Thank you, to those parents who helped provide transport. - Mrs Lavington

  • Leopards - Ashdown Forest Visit

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

Leopards Class had an amazing time at the Ashdown Forest Centre on Tuesday, learning all about the Stone Age. We looked at Stone Age artefacts (considering all of the uses for the flesh, skin and bones of the animals that would have been hunted!), practised our stalking/hunting skills (the deer would definitely have heard us coming!), jumped in muddy puddles, learnt about edible plants (the pine needles that we picked were brewed into a tea, which we all had a taste of at lunchtime!), had a snooze on Stone Age beds of heather and built Stone Age shelters - all against the beautiful backdrop of the North Downs. Despite getting rained on a few times, we all had a brilliant day and learnt loads. Thank you to the parents that helped on our trip and the fabulous staff at the Ashdown Forest Centre.

    Fri 19 Apr 2024

Geckos enjoyed their day at Ashdown Forest where they learnt about Nightjars, toads, frogs, minibeasts, signs of spring and specific types of trees!

They were all super well-behaved and everybody really enjoyed their first school trip!
