  • Football and Cricket

    Thu 26 May 2022

What an exciting week of sport for Felbridge we have had!

Starting last Friday where we hosted a year 5 football tournament against: St. Peter’s, Escots, Blackwell and St. Mary’s. The boys started well with a draw to Escots, which we were unfortunate not to win after coming close on a couple of occasions. The boys kept working hard and were unlucky not to  get more out of the later fixtures. The tournament finished with us finishing 4th. A huge improvement from the start of the year! Player of the tournament must be Hugo for some tireless running and brilliant attitude throughout the tournament.

Yesterday we attended the annual Kwick Cricket tournament at East Grinstead Cricket Club, in what certainly was not cricketing weather. Thankfully the standard of cricket certainly made up for it! The boys played absolutely magnificently producing some unbelievable cricket throughout. Their ability really shone through in the Wildcat team (made up of a mixture of schools) where our contribution secured The Wildcats a 2nd place finish! 1st place going to ourselves! The boys cooperated splendidly and thoroughly deserved their victory! We have now qualified for the Mid Sussex finals at Ansty on the 21st June, a first in my 7 years here!

  • Macaws (5)

    Thu 26 May 2022

It has been a busy few weeks for the Macaws!  Last Thursday 19th May, we were lucky enough to be invited along to Lingfield Racecourse to learn all about horse-racing.  We were given the opportunity to visit the Weighing Room, the Parade Ring and even walk along the track.  After lunch in a suite at the Racecourse, we joined the paying public to watch the first two races of the day.  It was an amazing experience and we all had a wonderful time at the races!  Then on Wednesday 25th May, Macaws visited the British Wildlife Centre to enrich our science studies and learn more about local habitats.  We had a private tour of the centre, meeting the foxes, otters, deers and owls, followed by a walk through the red squirrel enclosure where we got up-close to a beautiful red squirrel.  We loved seeing all the rats at the centre and had the opportunity to meet a lovely barn owl and a cute hedgehog.  The children had another wonderful day out!

  • Swimming Gala

    Fri 20 May 2022

On Monday evening I had the pleasure of taking Felbridge's own ‘Magnificent 7’ to the Kings Centre to compete in the East Grinstead School Swim Gala and they definitely lived up to their name!  Isla, Isla-Rose, Gemma, Darcy, Fletcher, Hugo and Greta Wheatley (who proudly represented the whole of year 4!!) competed in a number of different races against 10 other schools,  finishing 7th overall which was amazing.  We also won ‘fastest 50m girls’ category and the 100m medley.  The children all behaved impeccably and were a credit to Felbridge Primary School.  Thank you to all the parents who came along to cheer the children on.  Many thanks also goes to Simone Brissett who helped on the night.  Well done to you all, you should be immensely proud of yourselves, I know we are!

Huge thanks go to Mrs Morgan for organising the swimming gala this year.

  • Girls Football Friendly

    Fri 20 May 2022

Following the success of last weeks football, we hosted a girls football tournament against Escots and Baldwins Hill. The girls started brilliantly with a 2-0 victory over Baldwins Hill. Isla-Rose providing some excellent running to keep their defence under pressure. The group stages finished with us top of the group. After winning the semi-final we unfortunately lost in the final to a strong Escots team. However we should all be incredibly proud of the improvements shown from the start of the year. I can remember after a tournament in October we were celebrating scoring one goal and this time we lost count!  A special mention must go out Lila who was a phenomenon  between the sticks, keeping the girls in the games throughout the tournament with some amazing saves! Well done to all the girls who attended!

  • Tennis Festival

    Fri 20 May 2022

On Wednesday, a team of 8 children from year 4 went to the East Grinstead tennis club for a tennis festival.  The children took part in 10 stations of tennis themed activities where they could hone their ball skills.  The event was lead by Sackville and Imberhorne sports leaders who were very enthusiastic with all the children that attended.

The children had a great afternoon, and as usual, represented our school fantastically.

Our thanks to the parents for transporting the children.

  • Jaguars Class have had a very busy week!

    Fri 13 May 2022

They have absolutely blown me away with their attitude towards the SATs papers this week. Their calm, confident, measured approach to each test made me absolutely glow with pride. They have all worked incredibly hard and I couldn't have asked for  anything more from them!

They received their leavers' hoodies this morning and are currently having a fantastic time at the park to celebrate the end of SATs week.

Thank you to all the parents in year 6 for helping your children to prepare for this week, making sure they were well rested and here in time for breakfast each day!

Thank you also to the team of staff at school who helped to administer the tests each day so that the children all had the best possible environment in which to sit the tests.

  • Football Friendly

    Fri 13 May 2022

Last week saw a special 9-a-side friendly match against East Grinstead Meads FC to unveil our new football kit.

The match started well and saw a closely battled first third finish 0-0 with both sides sharing possession and moving the ball well. The second third saw Cam switch kits and play for the Meads! A move which deemed to prove costly when the opposition managed to nick the lead with a thundering effort from the edge of the box. However we did not give up and continued to persevere and push for an equaliser. Sadly early in the second half Meads finished a well worked move to extend the deficit to 2 goals. With time running out we decided to push everyone forward and try and get ourselves back into the game, with some silky skills from Frankie, Toby proving a rock at the back as always and some 'Kyle Walker-esque' runs from Henry we managed to bundle home an equaliser. GAME ON! We continued to push and came close to levelling the game however our offensive prowess proved to be our downfall with Meads finishing off the game through a counter attack to take the game to 3-1. The boys played magnificently and represented the school in all the right ways.

Finally, a special thank you again must go to Simon Holroyd (Cameron's dad) and Dan Smith (Leila’s dad, year R) for sponsoring the kits which I am sure you will all agree look fantastic! Both parents agreed to not use their own company logos and allowed us to use the local charity Jigsaw. Jigsaw (South East) supports bereaved children, young people and their families and also those affected by a family member having a terminal diagnosis throughout Surrey, Sussex and surrounding areas. If you have any interest in sponsoring in any way, please contact the school office.
