  • Class 3 Boys at Felbridge & Sunnyside Cricket Club

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

Some of our Class 3 boys belong to the Felbridge & Sunnyside Cricket Club.  Many of the boys are new to Cricket this year and despite being two players short they managed their second win of the season at the weekend against Merstham CC, showing great team spirit and resilience. Each week they are improving and their proud parents thought it would be nice for you to know what they’d been up to.

  • Class 2 Assembly

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

On Wednesday, we were treated to Class 2’s assembly about China. Class 2 told us some fascinating facts about China and the history of China. For example, did you know the Great Wall of China can be seen from space? And that Qin Shi Huang built an army of over 7000 terracotta warriors to protect him in the after life.

Well done to all of the children for learning their lines and speaking so clearly.

  • Area Sports

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

On Wednesday, Felbridge went to the biggest sporting event of the year, Area Sports, looking to retain their title from the previous year. We got off to a good start with Sophie and Dexter both finishing third in their respective races. We were also performing well in the field events with some brilliant throwing from Jay and some  great broad jumping from Alex.

James was particularly impressive by winning his long jump by over 1 metre. The closing event, the year six 4 x 100m relay race finished in controversy as the race had to be re-run due to a fall in another lane. Macey bravely stepped up to run in the re-run due to Sarah being injured, which saw us improve our finish from 4th to 3rd place. Despite all of our efforts and great performances, we finished in a respectable 4th place. Well done to all children who took part and trialled for the event, and thank you to all parents for transporting the children to and from the event.

  • Performance Assembly

    Fri 28 Jun 2019

Yesterday we held our final Performance Assembly of the year.  We were entertained by Class 5 who played their trumpets—they have all made fantastic progress since September; choir who sang songs from Dorking Halls and their forthcoming EGGSFest performance and children who played instruments they have been learning independently.  They were all amazing!

  • Class 6 - Science Lesson

    Fri 21 Jun 2019

“On Wednesday, Mrs Pearce got a sheep's heart from Flanagan's Butchers.  Early this morning we got into groups.  Each group studied a sheep heart each.  We discovered loads of facts - we saw the fat, which was hard, we saw a valve that looked like a parachute. When we put our fingers through the hole on one side it went right through, then on the other side the valve stopped it.  It was really fun”.  -  By Starsky

“On Wednesday morning, Mrs Pearce and Mrs Pitt dissected a lambs heart from Flanagan’s Butchers for our science lesson.  I found it very exciting.  I mostly enjoyed looking at the valves in the heart, it was very interesting as I have never seen a real heart before. Once we put gloves on we had the ability to touch the thin muscle and the thick muscle and looked at the veins and arteries”.   - By Sarah

“In year 6 we have done a lesson about the human heart. On Wednesday, Mrs Pearce went to Flanagan's Butchers in Crawley Down to pick up two fresh lambs hearts to bring to school.  Mrs Pearce and Mrs Pitt got some gloves on and showed the class about the arteries, veins, vena-cava and ventricles.  We learnt about how the heart pumps blood all through the body.  After the explanation, we got some gloves on and we had a feel.   One of the sides was soft, the other was hard.  I really enjoyed my science lesson”  - By Annabel

  • Class 3 Visit to RHS Wisley

    Fri 14 Jun 2019

“On Thursday we went to Wisley for our school trip.  In the morning we looked at lots of different plants.  All around the garden there were plaques with numbers on.  We then ticked the matching numbers to the plants on our map.  Everyone was searching for all the plaques.

After lunch, we looked at some designs by William Morris.  Then we all went to the huge green house to look for our own William Morris designs.  We then made our own repeating pattern design”.

  • Mini Football Festival

    Fri 14 Jun 2019

On a very wet, rainy and miserable Wednesday afternoon 9 children from Class 2 attended a football festival at Lingfield College.

We were joined by teams from Crawley Down and the host school Lingfield. After some apprehension to begin with, we quickly found our confidence and started to play some very ‘brave’ football. The children showed great courage and confidence when playing and even managed to score a couple of great goals in the process! There was some fantastic pressing from Isla and Charlie and Vinnie made some brilliant saves in goal as well as showed some amazing dribbling skills when playing outfield.

I was very proud of the courage all the children showed, many of them trying something new in an unfamiliar environment. Well done to Ellody, Hugo, Vinnie, Charlie, Christian, Nevaeh, Elliot, Isla-Rose and Isla and thank you to those children who helped to transport the children.       Mr Law

  • Tennis Festival

    Fri 07 Jun 2019

We all had a wonderful afternoon at the East Grinstead tennis club on Wednesday.  The children played a mixture of skill games followed by a set of competitive matches against other schools.

The children played and represented the school brilliantly.  We can all be very proud of them.  We narrowly missed out on a medal, finally finishing 4th.

Thank you to Mr Law for accompanying the children and to the parents who helped to transport to the tennis club.
