Monkeys - British Wildlife Centre
Fri 25 Nov 2022Monkeys really enjoyed their trip to the British Wildlife Centre yesterday. They were so lucky with the weather and got the place to themselves! We saw a red squirrel, badgers, foxes, rats, owls, deer, carp, a hedgehog and much more! They learnt lots about all the animals such as..
Owls can have three different colours for their eyes: black, orange and yellow
Rats will eat anything!
Owls have one ear on top of their head and one under their head
Badgers eat hedgehogs
Boy deer grow antlers but girl deer don't
They also learnt about what the different animals eat and if they were a herbivore, carnivore or an omnivore
It was a tiring but fun day.

Toucans - Viking Workshop
Fri 18 Nov 2022Toucans have had an amazing day learning about the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. Ash the Viking taught us about shield wall formations that we acted out. We tried on helmets and found out about weaponry from that time. Everything was so heavy! We acted out Viking travels on the sea in Viking longships and some of the problems that they would have encountered. Two children dressed Mrs Ruffels up as a rich Viking (the children were kind!) She thought the cloak was very heavy and ended up getting very hot. Very good clothing for those freezing days. We hung on every word as Ash the Viking told us a Viking saga with some of the children portraying the characters really well. It was very entertaining. We also learnt about food, daily life and acted out a burial. All in all, a fun packed day learning in the best possible way!

Jaguars—WWII Day
Fri 18 Nov 2022Last Friday, year 6 enjoyed their WWII themed day. The all looked brilliant dressed as evacuees, Land-girls or soldiers! During the day the children were able to look at and handle a variety of real and replica artefacts from the war. They were also given lots of information about the army, RAF and Guinea Pig Club from our visitors Mike and Sara.

Sportshall Athletics
Fri 11 Nov 2022Yesterday afternoon we competed against three other schools at Sackville in sportshall athletics, trying some events which were new to us such as a 6 lap paarlauf, speed bounce and standing long jump.
The children all performed to their best and represented Felbridge brilliantly. We won’t know the result until next week as four more schools will be competing again on Tuesday but whatever the outcome, we had a fantastic time and learnt some new sporting skills.
