  • Area Sports

    Fri 23 Jun 2023

Yesterday, the highlight of the sporting year was here with 20 of our bravest athletes from across KS2 taking part in the annual area sports competition. After narrowly missing out on glory last year by 2 points everyone was eager to make an impression and bring home the bacon (other vegetarian options were available)! We started well with an astonishingly quick 1st place finish from Sophie in year 3. We continued plugging away, picking up several other podium finishes., the highlight being our year 3 and 4 relay team winning their race by a whole leg! As the event drew to its finale (the relay races) we knew the scores were close. Our relay teams ran magnificently and we eagerly awaited the results.  We finished in a very respectable 3rd place missing out on victory by a narrow 8 points. All the children behaved impeccably and represented the school brilliantly.

Thank you to all the parents who helped to transport the children to Sackville school.

  • Try Something New

    Fri 23 Jun 2023

On Tuesday afternoon, a group of children from years 5 and 6 went to the King’s Centre for an afternoon of activities. The children had the opportunity to try lots of new things and we were lucky that, after a morning of very heavy rain and storms, the sunshine made an appearance!

They tried rugby, triathlon (including planking for swimming!), gymnastics, taekwondo, dance and athletics. The children represented the school brilliantly and threw themselves into every activity.

  • Reptile Encounters

    Fri 23 Jun 2023

Geckos and Jaguars were very lucky to have a visit from Alyssa and this time, she brought a bearded dragon (Lilo), a crested gecko (Polly) and a Ball/Royal python (Cleo). The children got to find out lots of interesting facts and got to hold and stroke the reptiles. Thank you so much to Alyssa for giving up her time and answering all of our questions!

  • Macaws - DT Cooking and Nutrition

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

On Thursday, Macaws Class finished their DT Cooking and Nutrition project by making Bolognese sauce. During the project, they have tasted and evaluated a selection of shop bought sauces and considered the nutritional value of these. They then adapted a Bolognese sauce recipe and entered the ingredients into a nutrition calculator before deciding upon their final, adapted recipe. In addition to making the sauce, the children also designed and created their own jar labels. It was a very busy (and slightly hectic!) afternoon but the end results looked good and smelt delicious!

This would not have been possible without Mrs Howe, Mrs Wheatley, Mrs Brand and Mrs Eales for kindly giving up their time to help - a huge thank you from Macaws Class!

  • Macaws - Chocolate Making Workshop

    Fri 16 Jun 2023

On Wednesday this week, Macaws class enjoyed a fantastic visit from the Chocolate Museum as part of their learning about Ancient Maya.  They learnt all about who first discovered chocolate, where it comes from and most importantly, were able to taste a variety of different types of chocolate!  Some of the different chocolates included chilli and orange, lime and ginger and white chocolate.  To end the session, they all made their own chocolate ganache truffles to take home.  It was an excellent workshop with the sweet smell of chocolate lingering in the classroom all morning!
