Snake,
Smart, scary
Searching, hunting, killing
Silently waiting to murder
Evil
By Isla
Backwards Poem
It’s a lie
Nobody can say
The rainforest is disappearing
It’s not true
People are losing their homes
People say
Orangutans are dying
It’s infuriating
Now read it backwards

Backwards Poem
The forest is on fire
So nobody can say
Humans
Are more important than
Rainforests
It’s all our fault
The rainforest is dying
So don’t tell me
It’s all been under my control
Now read it backwards
By Harry
Backwards Poem
Rainforests are on fire
You could say
They get injured doing it
Never will I confess
I made it all happen
Or maybe even
I control it all
I am determined that
This is the end
Now read it backwards

We need trees to breathe, please stop
We must change or else

Trees have a surface
They are important to earth
We need to help them

Jaguar,
Vicious, scary
Hunting, killing, eating
Lurking around the understory

Class 1 - Great Fire of London
Fri 29 Mar 2019Class 1 have been learning about The Great Fire of London. We made models of houses using cardboard boxes, paper and straw. Some children were happy to donate their models to our mini Pudding Lane in the playground. Mr Brand set fire to the bakery and we watched as the flames quickly spread from house to house as it would have in 1666!

Pop Lacrosse
Fri 29 Mar 2019On Wednesday I was privileged to take some Year 5 children to participate in a lacrosse competition with several other East Grinstead schools. I was extremely impressed with the good manners and behaviour of all our children. They each took turns to be substituted to ensure their other team friends had a turn. I was so impressed with how well they worked together as a team and within the first game they had quickly established their positions. They went on to draw in the first game and win every one of their games after. Thank you to Mrs Kallmann to helping to transport the children and to Mr Khouja for supporting the children from the sideline. Mrs Sloane

Football Tournament
Fri 22 Mar 2019Class 6’s final ever game of the Primaryship football league saw us take on Crawley Down and Copthorne schools. First up we played Copthorne who were a very drilled-out outfit. They pressed well and were equally as good on the ball, unfortunately we couldn’t find a way through their defence and lost by 3-0.
Next up, Crawley Down. They boys were keen to avenge the previous loss and started well with an early goal from Jay following a good run from Fletcher through the centre of the park. Our lead was quickly doubled with a sublime finish from Mikey. We held on to our convincing 2-0 lead.
I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching the boys over the last two years. They have put a smile on my face on many a Wednesday afternoon. I wish them all the best in their future footballing endeavours.
Thank you to all the parents who have helped to transport the children, without whom attending these events would not be possible.

Netball Festival
Fri 22 Mar 2019A group of class 3 children attended a netball festival on Wednesday this week.
“Netball is the best team sport in the world because you have to pass. In other sports like hockey, football and basketball you can dribble” . - Toby
“Netball was really fun. First we did skills and warm ups like passing, foot work, scoring positions. After a snack our group played our first game against Escots. We won 3-0 with Oscar scoring every goal! After an exciting game with Escots we played Copthorne and drew with them 1-1 and Marley scoring the goal!” - Marley and Lila

Class 6 - Home Front Bus
Fri 15 Mar 2019On Thursday, Class 6 enjoyed a fabulous World War 2 day! We were visited by the Home Front Bus, an amazing museum on wheels! Inside, we: explored a typical home during the 1940s; visited a traditional corner shop, where we discussed food shortages and rationing; experienced a bombed street during the Blitz and took cover in an Anderson shelter. It was superb and really brought our WWII topic to life. Our visitor was incredibly impressed by the knowledge, enthusiasm and behaviour of Class 6. He described them as ‘a breath of fresh air’, well done Class 6! In addition to visiting the bus, in class, we enjoyed: reading and writing Morse Code messages, cracking cryptograms, making model spitfires and designing propaganda posters. What a brilliant day!
