  • Pandas - Polar Express

    Fri 26 Nov 2021

Team Panda are using the beautiful Polar Express, by Chris van Allsburg, to support their writing over the next few weeks, so what better way to start than by donning our onesies and dressing gowns, being given our ticket and boarding the train for a warming hot chocolate in our ‘train,’ complete with fairy lights!

  • Macaws and Jaguars - Ancient Egyptian Day

    Fri 26 Nov 2021

Yesterday, Class 5 & 6 had a fantastic Ancient Egyptian themed day! They threw themselves into all aspects of the day and we were particularly impressed by all their costumes. Throughout the day they completed a range of activities including mummifying tomatoes, making Egyptian sweets, playing Egyptian games, and creating their own papyrus, pyramids, and Egyptian jewellery.

  • Monkeys (1) Visit to Brighton Toy Museum

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

Yesterday, Monkeys class took a trip to the Brighton Toy Museum. The children were able to look at a range of toys and transport models from the past. We had some time to sketch the toys and were also treated to a puppet show which we loved! The children's behaviour was incredible, and a great day was had by all!

  • Pandas (3) and Toucans (4) Visit to Buster Ancient Farm

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

Pandas and Toucans had a yabba-dabba-doo time going back to the Stone Age on Wednesday when we visited Butser Farm. We explored Neolithic and Iron Age houses, made ‘cordage’ (rope made from plant fibres), carved in chalk and built wattle fences.

  • Leopards (6) DT Projects

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

Last week, Leopards class designed and created model playgrounds as part of their DT for this half term. They were given a brief and then thought about what they might want to include in their playground. They then used lolly sticks, dowels, recycled materials, pipe cleaners and more to make their designs come to life! They used saws and glue guns (very sensibly!) to construct their playgrounds, then added finishing touches with plasticine. Once they'd finished, they spent some time playing with the playgrounds with their reading partners, which they all enjoyed immensely!

  • Geckos' first ICT and Library sessions

    Fri 19 Nov 2021

Miss Pringle took Geckos class to the school ICT suite and library this week and despite the fact that this was their first time in these two environments the children were amazing! They all had a go at developing their mouse control when using the computers and enjoyed looking at the variety of books in the library. Miss Pringle was especially impressed with how they respected the rules in each room by putting things away and staying quiet. Well done Geckos!

  • Pandas (3) Stone Age ‘Lion Man’

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

In our History lessons, Panda Class have learnt all about the Stone Age ‘Lion Man’ statue. It is 31cm tall, made from carved mammoth tusk and is 40,000 years old! Archaeologists believe that it took approximately 400 hours to create!

During art, we had great fun sculpting our own Lion Men, from clay. The results were really impressive. We have some very talented sculptors in Panda Class!

  • Leopards (2) Great Fire of London Workshop

    Fri 12 Nov 2021

Leopards Class were treated to a Great Fire of London extravaganza on Monday. The children built a representation of London in 1666 and acted out the events leading up to the fire. We even got to use a model water pump! After break, the children created their own gun powder, explored other objects from that time, played games linked to the Great Fire and even took a look around the mobile museum.

  • Toucans (4) The First Drawing

    Fri 05 Nov 2021

In Toucans class, we have been reading the book called The First Drawing. We created some freeze frames for part of the story to help us understand the emotions of the characters. In our groups, we focused on our teamwork skills to help us do this. We even managed to include our friends who have been working on Google Meet from home.

  • Pandas (3) and Toucans (4) - Squash

    Fri 05 Nov 2021

Pandas and Toucans Classes had great fun in PE this week with squash coach Mr Cowdell. The children were working to develop both their hand-eye coordination and their racket skills. They had great fun participating in lots of different racket related games and activities. Mr Cowdell will continue to work with Pandas and Toucans Classes during this half term. We are very much looking forward to developing our squash skills and... maybe some future squash champions!
