  • Modern Foreign Languages Workshop

    Fri 02 Dec 2022

Thursday, Macaws Class and Jaguars Class had a fabulous foreign languages morning! We were visited by Lingfield College who kindly delivered a Modern Foreign Languages Workshop; the children extended their knowledge of the French language and learnt a little bit of conversational Spanish.

The children all thoroughly enjoyed the morning! They were treated to a delicious breakfast of French pastries, they played a very entertaining 'Beret Game', enjoyed some salsa dancing and learnt lots of new vocabulary, all whilst having great fun.

    Thank you Lingfield College. Magnifique!

    Football Tournament

On a cold Wednesday evening we were faced by tough matches against two strong teams, Halsford Park and Crawley Down. We started well against Halsford Park and Thomas was unfortunate not to give us the lead on a couple of occasions in the first half. A barrage of attacks came in the second half; however, a star of the match performance from Franklin in goal saw him turn into, in Thomas’ words, 'Prime Neuer' pulling off 4 or 5 point blank saves. Sadly our resolve was broken 5 minutes into the second half and then whilst pushing for an equaliser Halsford Park doubled their lead.

Crawley Down were equally as strong. We managed to make our mark on the game with Toby playing out from the back well and some clever feet from Christopher creating a handful of chances. However a long range effort from Crawley Down's captain broke the deadlock. We continued to battle on and came close on a number of occasions due to some clever through balls from Ralphie and continued tireless running from Gemma. Sadly Crawley Down doubled their lead but we continued to persevere and our efforts were rewarded by a fantastic goal from Gemma beating their goalkeeper to the ball and bundling the ball over the line. With minutes remaining as we pushed for an equaliser Joshua showed great defensive prowess and speed to run the length of the pitch and make a goal saving tackle, an act earning him star of the match. Unfortunately our efforts and perseverance did not result in a win this time either, but I am more than certain that if this effort and teamwork continues in future matches you will all have winning match reports to read!
