  • Netball

    Fri 08 Feb 2019

On Wednesday the school netball team played 2 matches in the East Grinstead Schools' netball league. They started incredibly well in both matches and were leading at the end of the first quarter. Unfortunately, in their match against Copthorne, the height of the opposition got the better of them and they were unable to sustain their early lead! The second match against Baldwins Hill was a very close one and they were unlucky to lose by just one goal.

They were a very impressive team and played extremely well together. Very well done to Brodie, Evie, Macey, Fletcher, Summer, Nathan, Anna and Millie. Thanks to Mrs Wilson for helping to transport the children.

  • PTA Quiz Night

    Fri 08 Feb 2019

A huge thank you to all those parents who attended last week's Quiz Night. It was a fantastic evening albeit needing some serious thinking!

Special thanks to Amanda Broughton, Lauren Kelly, Eliska Kelly, Sarah Saunders and Emma Treadaway for organisation of various parts of the evening; to Ben Treadaway and Eliot Law for reading the questions and to Nick Brand for bar support as well as for setting up and clearing away.

Profit will be shared between PTA funds and Children with Cancer UK, the charity for which Eliska Kelly is running this year's London Marathon.

  • Crew Trainers

    Fri 08 Feb 2019

This week our Class 5 crew trainers attended a training session at Imberhorne Upper school. This is what Daisy and Harry T had to say.

“On Wednesday, Class 5 crew trainers went to a training event at Imberhorne Upper school.  At the start we did some warm up games.  Some of our favourites were the ABC game, chaos tag and toilet tag.  Then we got split into 4 groups of 3 and went off to do our different activities.  Our favourite activities were multi-skills and curling. In multi-skills our group were given a game card which we had to make, we were then give the task of improvising and adding more and in curling we were put in groups with other people we didn’t know.”

Thank you to Mrs Polley for accompanying the children for the morning and to Mrs Freear and Mrs Lacey for transporting them.

  • Class 1 - Chinese New Year

    Fri 08 Feb 2019

Class 1 celebrated Chinese New Year on Tuesday with lots of traditional activities. We made and decorated lanterns, made red envelopes filled with money, painted Chinese numbers, tried some tricky Chinese puzzles and tasted rice noodles and prawn crackers using chopsticks.

  • Class 3 - Butser Farm

    Fri 01 Feb 2019

On Wednesday this week Class 3 had a fantastic day out at Butser Ancient Farm.

The children took part in a wide range of activities which really enriched their current learning about the Romans. We took part in an archaeological dig and found many exciting items. After this we had a go at making a fence using a technique called wattling. It required us to work as a team and use some of our problem solving skills. We ate our lunch around a fire in an iron age round house which was really fun. After lunch we had a tour of a Roman villa where we made mosaics and had a go at spinning some sheep  wool, which was quite hard and some of us found really smelly!

Thank you to Miss Brown, Mrs Sanders, Mrs Kelly and Mrs Wheatley for coming with us on the trip.  The children behaved impeccably and I received some fantastic comments from the adults working a Butser Farm.
